Vision Board Workshop
What are your BIG GOALS for 2026? Looking for a way to keep your vision on track? Join us for a vision boarding workshop, where we'll dream and scheme to manifest the 2026 you want! Bedazzle a Book Night
Flex your crafting muscles at Matchmaker Bookshop for a sparkly, festive evening where we transform ordinary book covers into bedazzled works of art! This hands-on event is the perfect way to make your next read truly shine, or give it as a holiday gift to someone special!
Ages: 16+ or 12+ with an accompanying adult (both adult and child must purchase tickets)
Cost: $15 per participant, plus the book of your choice purchased at Matchmaker (you can call ahead or purchase your book on the evening of the event)
We’ll provide all of the crafting materials plus light refreshments! So grab a friend and get ready for a night of literary sparkle and holiday magic!

Join us in escaping holiday stress with local authors Beth Kander (I Made it Out of Clay) and Jenna Satterthwaite (The New Year’s Party) as they talk about how the holidays feature in their latest books, why monsters and mayhem lend themselves to seasonal storytelling, and all things holidays and books. Come for the author talk and fun activities, stay for a little holiday shopping, signed gifts, and cheer!
Small Business Saturday
Join us in celebrating local business for our very first Small Business Saturday! We will be extending our hours and opening at 9 AM for all of those early bird shoppers. All of our booksellers are so excited to matchmake everyone on your list with the perfect read!
Pups & Pages with Chicago Rescue Authority
Santa Paws is coming to Matchmaker Bookshop and bringing some absolutely adorable adoptable pups from Chicagoland dog rescue, Chicago Rescue Authority! Take a break from the Black Friday madness and help a pup in need find their forever home. Chicago Rescue Authority will be doing on-site adoptions and have information for anyone willing to open up their home to foster as well! RSVP below if you plan on stopping by.

Matchmaker Bookshop is excited to welcome author Mitch Friedman for a reading and signing of his latest book, Conservation Confidential. Mitch describes his book as memoirish, sharing stories from his 40 years of leadership in nature conservation and the lessons/guidance that yield to activists of all sorts. We will have copies of the book available for purchase to be signed by the author. Please RSVP below for this event.

Join us for our weekly Storytime with Miss Cathy! This week she will be reading the first installment from Jon Klassen’s “Your Places” series and have some matching activities.
Banned Books Week Read-In
We have teamed up with Libro.fm and Silent Book Club to host a read-in to protest against censorship during Banned Books Week! What’s a read-in? Bring your current read or have one of our booksellers matchmake you with a new pick (perhaps a book that’s been banned!), find a cozy spot in the shop or on the patio, and read! No pressure. No need for discussion. Just some quality silent reading time. All participants will also receive a free audiobook from Libro.fm.
Pop-Up at Crunchy Culture Fest
Join us at Crunchy Culture Fest, an all-day celebration of natural-living and local community! This family-friendly festival features exclusively natural, organic, or holistic local vendors and small businesses. We will have a Matchmaker pop-up shop with some sweet reads for nature and honey lovers alike. We will be hosting story time for kids of any age at 10:30am and 11:30am as well. STORY HOUR!
Join us for our weekly story hour with Miss Cathy! Come to hear a selection of our current favorite books, and stay awhile to play and browse!
All children must be supervised by an adult. Advance registration is not required.
Grand Opening
The day you’ve been waiting for is finally here! Matchmaker Bookshop will open her doors with a ribbon cutting and prizes for the first 25 guests through the door (limit one per family)! You can also enter to win raffle prizes throughout the weekend by signing up for Plot Points, our frequent buyer program.
